Relational Somatic Therapy
We cannot change the past, but we can change how the body is holding it.
Relational Somatic Therapy (RST) is a body-centred, one-on-one, client-focused, trauma-informed therapy. RST views the body as the holder of all information, past and present. Together, in sessions, we begin to give the client felt-sense language and awareness of their body’s own experience (interoception). It connects and integrates their past experiences into the present time, creating the space for healing the brain-body connection. Clients are guided to slow down and observe their body responses in a curious and kind way.
Relational Somatic Therapy helps to address:
Anxiety
Trauma
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Depression
It is not about changing the part that is hurting, but creating the inner environment where healing can happen.

Sound Therapy & Relational Somatic Therapy
One of the key principles behind sound therapy is the concept of entrainment. This phenomenon occurs when two systems synchronize their rhythms, enabling the body and mind to align with the frequencies and rhythms produced by the instruments during the session. As you listen to specific sound patterns, your brainwaves may shift, promoting relaxation and enhancing your overall state of consciousness.
Entrainment offers significant somatic therapy benefits for the nervous system. By synchronizing with calming sound frequencies, your body can transition from a state of tension and stress to one of reset, relaxation, and balance. This process helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, allowing the parasympathetic (rest and digest) system to take over. As a result, you may experience reduced anxiety, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of inner peace. Ultimately, this alignment can lead to enhanced resilience against stress and a more profound connection to your body’s natural rhythms.
Another vital aspect of our sessions is the focus on somatic therapy awareness, interoception, which is the awareness of internal body sensations. Sound plays a crucial role in supporting interoception by providing auditory cues that help you tune into your body's signals. The vibrations and frequencies generated during sound therapy can resonate within your body, creating a heightened awareness of sensations such as tension, relaxation, warmth, or discomfort. This auditory experience acts as a bridge, connecting you more deeply to your physical state and emotional landscape.
By cultivating interoceptive awareness through sound, you can gain valuable insights into your emotional and physical states. This heightened awareness can help you identify areas of tension or discomfort, allowing for targeted healing and transformation as well as guiding you to explore what tools may support you in your day to day. The immersive nature of sound therapy encourages you to listen not just to the sounds around you but also to the messages your body is conveying, fostering a deeper understanding of your needs.
What to Expect
My personal approach and practice is to harness the profound nervous system regulating capabilities of sound therapy to seamlessly integrate with relational somatic therapy (RST). This innovative approach of blending these two therapeutic modalities allows us to effectively move through blockages in the body, facilitating emotional and physical release and integration. Through the marriage of sound and somatic tools, I facilitate a holistic experience that nurtures both the mind and the body fostering a deeper sense of internal awareness and connection.
The Role of Entrainment in Sound and Somatic Sessions
Enhancing Interoception Through Sound
During our individual and duo (couples) sound immersions, I create a personalized soundscape that resonates with your unique needs. Utilizing a combination of auditory looping, frequency-emitting instruments, and my voice, I aim to cultivate an environment that promotes tranquillity and supports your nervous system. This immersive experience encourages deep listening and body awareness, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and your innate coherent wellness within your own physiology on a profound level.
Before a somatic sound session, we will engage in a collaborative discussion to identify the specific focus of your immersion. Whether it's stress relief, enhancing body awareness, or being with different emotional states, I will begin to understand your intention and it will allow us to create a more impactful experience. During the session, you may also be introduced to visualization techniques or breathwork practices, empowering you to integrate these tools into your daily life for ongoing benefits.
Enhancing Connections in Couples Sessions
It’s important to note that the term "couple" encompasses all relationship forms, not just romantic partnerships. This inclusivity creates a welcoming environment for friends, family members, or any two individuals seeking to strengthen their connection or wanting to try a new experience.
Sound therapy for couples is a powerful way to foster relaxation, emotional connection, and explore a new way of being in relation with the other. Through shared auditory experiences, duos can deepen their bond, enhance communication, and have a relaxing nervous system reset. I create a space where both individuals feel seen and heard. This approach encourages a sense of harmony, allowing couples to relax into each other and experience a deeper level of connection.
